Carol Collan is a Helsinki-based media artist working across digital image processing, photography, and installation. Their practice explores memory, monumentality, and transformation through processes of fragmentation, repetition, and reconstruction. Drawing from photographs of public sculptures, urban environments, and personal landscapes, Collan reconfigures familiar forms into kaleidoscopic visual structures that move between recognition and abstraction.Combining digital manipulation with manual ink work, Collan’s process creates a dialogue between mechanical reproduction and physical mark-making. Through seriality and material intervention, their works examine how bodies, places, and monuments carry traces of identity, loss, and change. Collan’s practice considers fragmentation not only as disintegration, but also as a method of reimagining form, memory, and continuity.Their works have been exhibited in Helsinki and are held in private collections. Collan is currently pursuing studies in arts management at the University of the Arts Helsinki alongside marketing studies at Hanken School of Economics.
